History:
Yuzu was raised by her father and never knew her mother. She was always there for Yuya when they were children, comforting him when he was teased about his father's disappearance. Yuzu goes to Maiami Second Middle School for regular education along with Yuya, but she also attends the You Show Duel School that her father owns after classes are over. Yuzu angrily smacked her father over the head with a paper fan and chastising him for going back on his word for not letting Yuya duel against Strong Ishijima. Once seeing Yuya perform a Pendulum Summoning for the first time, she was shocked and even more shocked when he defeated Ishijima. Planning to face Yuya in an exhibition duel isn't made easy when Yuzu has to deal with a flood of potential students who want to apply for the You Show Duel School. Yuzu balks at the idea of having to face Yuya as the 'bad guy' in front of everyone but she's thrusted into that role after he acts foolishly and she hits him in the head with her fan. That provokes the other students, so Yuya says that she did so to avenge Strong Ishijima. She's able to hold her own against him, thinking that at some point Yuya will be able to Pendulum Summon but he miscalculates and her attack goes through which makes Yuzu the winner.

The next day at school, Yuzu frantically tried to wake Yuya up so he wouldn't get in trouble for sleeping in class. Unfortunately he got caught after saying the answer to a question he was asked was the right one. Yuzu smacks him with her fan and says his answers are never the right one! After school, when three younger You Show Duel students -Ayu, Futoshi and newest member Tatsuya- ask to see a Pendulum Summon they're interrupted by Shingo Sawatari. Yuzu's angry that the school owned by her family is passed up when Shingo offers to take them to LDS so they can duel but she goes anyway. Soon after, they're taken hostage in an Action-Duel type field. Yuya's able to save them and win the duel. This isn't the last time Yuzu and her friends encounter LDS students, as she and Ayu find Shingo talking with some friends planning revenge against Yuya for beating him. She decides to go after them, following Shingo to a warehouse. Yuzu tells Ayu to find Yuya and tell him what's going on. She interrupts Shingo while he's eating and she yells angrily at him, shouting various insults while not letting him get a word in edgewise. She demands to duel Shingo and he agrees. Before they can start, someone else appears and he requests to duel him in Yuzu's place. She protests but he says he doesn't want to see her hurt anymore. After she watches him duel with his style of summoning XYZ monsters, his true identity is revealed later on but he looks so much like Yuya that Yuzu almost believes it could be him.

Later, it's discovered that Shingo was hospitalized and that 'Yuya' was responsible. Yuya, Yuzu and Sora deem that they'll duel to protect their school from being absorbed into the LDS system but Yuzu is still feeling conflicted over her meeting with Yuya and Yuto. This is shown during her match with Masumi, where she's not fully committed to the duel and mistakes an Action card for a reflection. (Masumi mentions that she's lost her luster.) After her loss to Masumi due to her own conflicting issues, she resolves to get stronger so she'll be able to protect her school and her friends.

Yuzu tried to console Yuya after his match with Reiji Akaba once he realized he wasn't the only one who could Pendulum Summon. She watched her father duel Yuya to get him back on the right track, very annoyed with the way her father was dueling against Yuya. After Yuya won, seeing a post-'death' scene with both Yuya and her father acting dramatically caused Yuzu to snap and she hits her father with her fan. Yuya pleaded with Yuzu to duel him so he could qualify for the Junior Youth Championship, but as she'd already qualified she couldn't accept. Yuzu asked Sora to train him in Fusion summoning, and she was given a Polymerization card and explained the basics of Fusion summoning. Rather than go with Yuya to watch his duels, Yuzu went to watch Sora qualify himself. She paid close attention to his duels, noting when he Fusion summoned near the end of each one. They had a practice duel later, but Yuzu had put the proper card in her deck and not her Extra deck, therefore ehe couldn't Fusion summon correctly. Her concentration had been thrown off due to her thinking about the masked Duelist who looked like Yuya.

She ran into Masumi once more, who blamed Yuzu for 'hiding' the masked Duelist and demanded they duel. Sora said she should accept and that she'd be able to beat her easily now since LDS' Fusion summons weren't much of a threat. That got Masumi mad, and she decided to challenge him instead. This was when they met Shun, who first mistook Yuzu for Ruri. Yuto emerged and said that she wasn't Ruri. Thanks to Yuya suddenly getting closer, her bracelet glowed and they disappeared. Yuzu admitted to Yuya that she was confused and worried over these events and began to cry, Yuya comforting her before helping her pick up her deck. She watched Sora's last qualifying duel but went back to the warehouse first to try to find her Polymerization card. (Yuya had picked it up by mistake and ended up putting it in his deck.) She went to watch Yuya beat Mieru with her card and accepted his thanks for letting him use it. Later, she saw Masumi and giving her friends the excuse that she had to take care of something left, but she soon lost sight of Masumi and ran into Yuto instead. He said she didn't need to get hurt again and she didn't need to get involved. Yuzu angrily notes that they'll hurt Masumi and asks who they are. She learns that Yuto and Shun are from the XYZ dimension and that his sister Ruri looks just like Yuzu, but she's missing.

The Junior Youth Championship finally started, with Yuzu being worried for Yuya as he'd taken off and was in danger of being late. She went to go find him with their friends and they ran into Mieru. Her calling Yuya 'Darling' sent Yuzu into a rage. The kids tried calming her down, Yuzu only doing so when she found out that Mieru had divined Yuya's location and was going to look for him. Yuya and Gongenzaka showed up, and they were all able to walk out together for the opening ceremonies. Yuzu found out that her first opponent during the tournament was none other than Masumi, and she was surprised when Shun came out alongside her and the other LDS students. She asked her about it, but this only confused Masumi -her memories had been altered- and she stated he'd always been part of their school.

Yuzu and Masumi dueled as the first duel of the Junior Youth division, and through an amazing display of counter after counter with Yuzu Fusion summoning her new ace monster, Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir, and then leaping off of the Action Field's bridge to procure an Action card before Masumi, was able to win the duel. Masumi gave Yuzu a 'Crystal Rose' card and told her to win the entire thing while adding that someone who'd defeated her shouldn't lose.

She watched the other duels with interest, but was taken aback during Yuya's duel against Shingo. When he appeared to have been buried in rubble during the duel, Yuzu was very distressed, screaming Yuya's name in terror and being equally relieved when he emerged unharmed. She cheered him when he won, and then prepared to watch Sora's first round duel with Shun. It was here that his true sadistic nature was revealed much to her disbelief, both Yuzu and Yuya running out to him after he lost consciousness -and subsequently the duel. Yuzu explained everything that had happened with Yuya and Gongenzaka, the three friends splitting up to look for Sora when they discovered he escaped the hospital. She later found Yuya in Central Park, her bracelet activated, and noting he was in a state of shock before collapsing. Two days later, both Yuzu and Yuya's mother were watching over him while he was still unconscious. Yuzu started crying, worried that he would never wake up. Yoko reassured her that Yuya would be fine, and would wake up better than before. To the girls' surprise, Mieru literally appeared in the window and jumped in while declaring she would save Yuya. They found out that she abandoned her Championship first round match to save him, but told her he'd recover faster if she won her match. She didn't, but Yuya woke up anyway. Yuzu then learned from Yuya what he found out about the four dimensions, and Yugo who was from the Synchro dimension but looked like him. She was surprised to find out Yuya had Yuto's Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon.

Yuzu learned that her second round opponent was to be against Mikiyo Naname, annoyed by her opponent's crowd-pleasing antics and promised to give them a real Entertainment duel as You Show Duel School's poster girl. After a long, back and forth tight match, Yuzu defeated Mikiyo using her Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir.

The final 16 duelists were announced, and Yuya, Yuzu and Gongenzaka were part of that list. They discovered that they would be participating in a Battle Royale style match around the city. Yuzu's first duel was against Halil who gave her a Pendulum monster beforehand since she only had one of the two which were required to Pendulum summon. She lost it during the duel but was able to get it back. When she reached for an Action card, Yuzu slid off the ice shelf and into Olga, who was dueling against Gongenzaka. The two duels were combined to form a tag team match: Yuzu and Gongenzaka vs. Halil and Olga. After Gongenzka was defeated, Yuzu managed to defeat both Halil and Olga. She offered Gongenzaka two of the Pendulum cards they'd won but he only took one while stating Yuzu was the true winner. After losing to Dennis and giving him her wagered Pendulum cards, Selena showed up. Yuzu tried to stop her from challenging him since they were in the middle of a Championship match but he accepted anyway. Seeing Selena Fusion summon, and realizing they looked alike, Yuzu realized that she wasn't Ruri and that she must've been from the Fusion dimension. The Obelisk Force arrived to capture them, but Yuzu and Selena were taken away by Tsukikage and Hikage.

The two girls met in the Iceberg area where Yuzu learned of Selena's true identity and Yuzu explained what she knew about the tragedy of the XYZ dimension and what the Academia duelists did after sealing the XYX dimension people into cards. Taking into account that she didn't believe her, Yuzu told Selena to go find Shun and talk to him and he would corroborate her story. So no one from the Fusion dimension could capture her, Yuzu suggested the two switch clothes so they'll think Selena's Yuzu and vice versa. Yuzu had to drag Selena behind a rock to change so Tsukikage wouldn't see them change -and because apparently she didn't understand that modesty between girls was important. After narrowing down Shun's location, Yuzu and Selena nodded at each other and went their separate ways. Unfortunately, Yuzu's plan worked too well and she encountered three Obelisk Force members. Yuri appeared from the top of a building and told them to leave her to him, else they end up as cards like Halil and Olga to Yuzu's shock and worry. She mistook Yuri for Yuya but he corrected her. Upon learning that the Professor wanted her and that was his mission, Yuzu refused to go with him. Yuri noted that she was just like Ruri and Rin. Yuri challenged her to a duel, which she was forced to accept. After managing ot avoid him throughout the night, she tried hiding beneath the ice but was spotted.

Yuzu pleaded for Yuya to save her, but to her surprise her bracelet began to glow and Yuri was teleported away. She thought Yuya was coming to her rescue again, but it turned out to be Yugo from the Synchro dimension on his D-Wheel. Unfortunately, they were both teleported away due to Yuya being nearby looking for her. Once they arrived in the Synchro dimension, Yuzu was initially surprised they had traveled between dimensions. After discussing things with Yugo, she broke down once the conversation shifted to Yuya, Yuzu feeling helpless that she couldn't figure out her bracelet's abilities. Yugo calmed her down and they talked about Yuzu's other lookalike from his world, Rin. The Tops security finally noticed them, Yuzu and Yugo escaping on his D-Wheel. Yuzu was terrified at her first Riding duel even though she discovered that their loss would mean they would be taken to the Facility. Yuzu and Yugo were branded as fugitives from the law after he'd won the duel with Clear Wing Synchro Dragon. They tried to warn the City residents about the impending Academia's invasion, Yuzu even showing them the cards containing Halil and Olga's souls, but no one believed them. Yuzu was signed up for the Friendship Cup without her knowledge, and much to her chagrin. Yugo told her they would gain credibility for their story if they were to win it. Upon arriving at the Duel palace, Yuzu was surprised and very pleased to see Yuya in the Synchro dimension dueling against Jack Atlas. She was shocked and worried once seeing him be defeated, Yuzu not at all pleased that she wasn't allowed to see him. During her first Riding Duel against Enjoy Chojiro, it took Yuzu some time to learn how to ride but was soon riding effortlessly on it, performing Action sequences while riding it to procure Action cards. She was utterly flabbergasted and freaked out while her opponent screamed "I'M SORRY!" repeatedly for the first half of the duel. She decided she'd give Yuya the best Entertainment duel ever to help cheer him up. After a very powerful back and forth duel, Yuzu was able to win her match. Yuzu was surprised to discover that Selena was scheduled to duel after her and hoped that Yuya had caught her hidden message that she portrayed during her duel.

Personality:

Yuzu is shown throughout the series to have a jovial, opbeat and optimistic personalitiy though it's also combined with an exremely, very short temper. The latter unfortunately results in her actions causing huge consequences. (This is shown in the series premiere when her anger at Yuya for not focusing on his duel causes her to smash her fists down on the Solid Vision technology computer. That results in the machine being destroyed, and her father needing to get said computer replaced. Yuzu also has a tendency of using a paper fan to whack other people on their heads out of annoyance, which is usually Yuya or her father when they do something foolish. She's also hit one of Yuya's lookalikes, Yugo from the Synchro Dimension as well as Enjoy Choujiro.

Yuzu's also shown to be argumentative, or disagreeing with others' opinions on certain matters. She wanted to argue with a fellow spectator who insulted Yuya and his father before his Duel against Strong Ishijima. This shows that she also cares for Yuya and defends him as well as his believing in his father. She harbors feelings for Yuya, shown when she blushes after Sora mistakes her to be Yuya's girlfrieind but also whenever Mieru makes advances toward him. A few strong points are when she starts to cry over fear and worry that Yuya would never wake up when he was unconcsious for a few days after he first met with Yuto and Yugo, and then crying once realizing she was separated from Yuya in the Synchro Dimension. She'll also deny being involved with Yuya in that way, even though she has feelings for him. She even hits Enjoy Chojiro with her fan when he asks her if Yuya is her boyfriend after their duel.

Yuzu's perception and judgment on issues start to slip and falter after she first meets Yuto -Yuya's lookalike from the XYZ Dimension= mostly due to their resemblance and her lack of understanding the situation concerning the dimension which frustrated her. Her worries were put at ease after she was encouraged by both Yuya and Yuto, which affirms her earlier resolve to become stronger so she can protect You Show Duel School and her friends.


Gem Considerations: Yuzu would receive a ruby upon arriving. The ruby's main qualities are courage, passion, strength and adventure. These traits would be shown in Yuzu as she's been known to be courageous when the situation calls for it, have intense passion for what she strives for and believes in, is quite strong and athletic and will be adventurous if she finds herself thrust into one by choice or if it's decided for her.

Yuzu would be surprised and amazed upon discovering the different types of people with different powers once she arrived, and when she realizes she has powers of her own she'll be even more shocked but she'll come around to accept the situation as is. It'll take some time for her to get used to having powers, but Yuzu will get the hang of them after a little bit of training and learning how to hone them properly. Not having powers initially with the exception of her bracelet teleporting either herself -or anyone who looks like Yuya- away from her current location, Yuzu won't be affected at all by the powercap that Cosmo has.
